The Trustees’ stated vision for London Quakers Property Trust is:
of working supportively with the London Quaker community to create a network of welcoming, well maintained sustainable and appropriate community buildings that lift the spirits.

Some will be beautiful and exciting as buildings; the historic Meeting Houses will root us in our past; some will be simple and ordinary; some will be rented rooms, but all will be friendly and welcoming.

We will achieve this by working constructively and joyfully together with members, attenders, Local and Area Meetings, releasing creativity and reducing the burden of maintenance, and our impact on the environment. Our buildings and structures will, we hope, empower us rather than burden us all, and help us to increase our spiritual reach across all of London’s communities. In William Penn’s words, we seek “spiritual utility” so that we embody a glorious future for us and a new generation of Friends.

Their major source of income arises from the lettings and rentals from the buildings that they own.

To achieve their charitable objective, their main activity is to maintain, repair, preserve and insure the 32 Quakers Meeting Houses, and other properties within the London area and to help pay for rented accommodation where appropriate. LQPT has an extensive multimillion pound property portfolio and a program of quinquennial surveys and repairs/improvements. There is also a significant investment portfolio.

Local Quaker meetings act as our agents in arranging lettings and in managing and accounting for income at a local level. All such income is managed by LQPT as a pooled resource across the whole of London. LQPT therefore has extensive links with local Meetings, not only in relation to the physical state of buildings but also in relation to health and safety issues, insurance, lettings policies and rental levels, and local financial management.
