“My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. You’re deeply rooted in him. You’re well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you’ve been taught. School’s out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.”
At this time of year, there is so often a pause. The flurry of rushing around, completing shopping and to-do lists, shopping, wrapping, hiding, and delivering things is done. Meals have been prepared and eaten and a hush falls over the house.
There isn’t anything that has to be done. Instead, you can just be. You might find it by wrapping up warm and venturing out into the garden, or walking further afield. You might find it by staying home with a warm mug to savour the silence when everyone else goes out. Or you may just look over the colourful chaos of a noisy room and feel a well of thankfulness.
However this season finds you, I hope you feel that touch of everlasting peace and take it with you into 2023.
