Meet Dalip – Treasurer of a Small Charity
Dalip agreed to become treasurer of a small community charity. The previous treasurer had done their best, but records were spread across spreadsheets, emails and paper folders.
Each time the committee asked for an update, Dalip had to spend hours pulling information together.
He also worried about whether the records were complete enough for the charity’s annual accounts.
MBS worked with Dalip to:
organise the charity’s financial records into a simple bookkeeping system
- ensure income and expenditure were recorded consistently
- prepare clear financial summaries for committee meetings
- provide ongoing monthly support to manage the booksorganise the charity’s documents into a simple shared system
Instead of feeling anxious about the finances, Dalip now feels confident that the charity’s financial records are accurate, organised and easy to explain to the committee.
How We Work With Charities
Charities use our bookkeeping support in different ways.
Some organisations ask us to manage ongoing bookkeeping, keeping records up to date each month.
- organising historical financial records
- preparing for year-end accounts
- setting up bookkeeping systems for new treasurers
- supporting charities that have grown and need clearer processes
Our goal is always to provide simple, transparent systems that trustees and treasurers can understand and maintain.
Not sure if your charity’s financial systems are working well?
Many treasurers inherit systems that have evolved over time and are not sure whether they are still fit for purpose.
We can offer an internal financial systems and controls review.
Our Charity Support Quiz helps identify where your charity may need support and which services might be most helpful.
Want to talk through your charity’s finances?
If you would like to discuss how we can support your treasurer or committee, we would be happy to help.
