AdventWord 2022: Majesty

“I've seen the majestic beauty of nature and the overwhelming perfection of it. To me, there's nothing closer to God than that." Cote De Pablo

What is majesty?

Yes, majesty means sovereign power, authority, or dignity. It is used as a form of address for heads of state. But it is also used to describe beauty. “Look at those mountains – what majesty!”

Stopping to soak up and really look at majestic beauty – mountains, a sunset, a waterfall – can connect me with a deeper, more powerful authority in my life. One that takes me away from the easy fixes such as yet more coffee or chocolate. Instead fills me from the inside.

How can it help us?

It is all too easy to be swept up in the never-ending to-do lists of modern life. Not take time to get outside and look at the natural world. Even if that’s only the flowers on the doorstep or the rainbow of reflections in the puddle.

Stop, look closely, and connect to that majesty. Let it fill you up, and remember that the majestic beauty of nature is an important need for many. It’s vital in keeping us emotionally, psychologically, and physically healthy.
